Sealing principle of globe valve: Part 1

Depending on the material of the sealing surface of the globe valve, the globe valve can be sealed with both metal and non-metallic seals. When using metal seals and non-metallic seals, not only the specific pressure of the seal needs to be high, but also the surrounding area needs to be uniform to achieve the required tightness. According to the above requirements, there are various structural designs of the sealing surface, and the sealing principle and sealing force calculation are not the same.

1. Flat seal: The advantage of flat sealing is that there is no friction when the contact surface is sealed, so the guiding requirements for the closing parts are not important, and the requirements for the anti-scratch of the sealing surface material are not strict. At the same time, when the roundness of the sealing surface is deformed due to pipe stress, the sealing performance of the sealing surface will not be affected. The disadvantage is that the solid particles and sediment in the medium can easily damage the sealing surface. The sealing principle is that when the medium flows in from under the valve disc, the sealing force applied must be equal to or greater than the sum of the specific pressure generated on the sealing surface and the upward force of the medium.
