In order to meet the requirements of industrial applications such as high and low temperature, strong erosion, and long life, metal-sealed butterfly valves have been greatly developed in recent decades. Not only has the design and calculation method of the valve been updated in an all-round way, but also the heavy and repetitive routine design work of professional technicians has been reduced, so that technicians have more energy to improve the technical performance of products and the research and development of new products, shorten the cycle, improve labor productivity. Especially in the field of metal-seated butterfly valves, due to the application of CAD/CAM, there are three-dimensional sealing pairs designed by CAD and manufactured by CAM CNC machining, so that the sealing surface of the valve will not be squeezed, scratched or worn during the opening and closing process. Thereby, the sealing performance and service life of the butterfly valve are improved by orders of magnitude.

When the butterfly valve is fully opened, it has a small flow resistance. When it is opened between about 15^O ~ 70^O, it can control the flow sensitively. Therefore, in the field of large-diameter adjustment, the application of butterfly valves is very common, and will gradually become a leading valve type.

Because the movement of the butterfly valve plate is wiping, most butterfly valves can be used for media with suspended solid particles and can also be used for powdery and granular media depending on the strength of the seal.
