The original butterfly valve is a simple, loosely closed flapper valve, commonly used as a flow regulating valve and damping valve in water piping systems.

Because synthetic rubber has the characteristics of corrosion resistance, erosion resistance, dimensional stability, good resilience, easy forming and low cost, and synthetic rubber with different properties can be selected according to different use requirements to meet the working conditions of butterfly valves, so It is widely used in the manufacture of liners and elastic seats for butterfly valves.

Because polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) has strong corrosion resistance, stable performance, not easy to age, low friction coefficient, easy to form, stable size, and can also be filled and added with appropriate materials to improve its comprehensive properties, to obtain better strength, butterfly valve sealing materials with a lower coefficient of friction overcome some limitations of synthetic rubber, so high-molecular polymer materials represented by polytetrafluoroethylene and their filling modified materials have been widely used in butterfly valves. The performance of butterfly valve has been further improved, meanwhile butterfly valves with wider temperature and pressure ranges, sealing performance and longer service life have appeared.
